Target Information
C8orf79 (chromosome 8 open reading frame 79) is a 454 amino acid protein belonging to the methyltransferase superfamily and is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 8p22. Chromosome 8 contains approximately 146 million bases and encodes about 800 genes. Translocation and amplification of the c-Myc gene on chromosome 8 are associated with certain leukemias and lymphomas and are linked to poor prognosis. Portions of chromosome 8 have also been associated with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
