Product Specific Information

This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%) to prevent contamination.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems developed by cloning antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select optimal candidates for production.

Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:

  • Improved specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulations
  • Broader immunoreactivity to diverse targets due to larger rabbit immune repertoire

This antibody has specificity for H5N1 (A/Anhui/1/2005) HA.

Target Information

Influenza A virus is a major public health threat, causing over 30,000 deaths annually in the USA. In 2009, a novel swine-origin influenza A (H1N1) virus emerged and rapidly spread worldwide, leading to a pandemic declaration by WHO.

Influenza A virus has:

  • Sixteen possible Hemagglutinin (HA) surface proteins
  • Nine possible Neuraminidase (NA) surface proteins

Functional roles:

  • HA facilitates viral attachment
  • NA mediates viral release

Both proteins elicit immune responses that prevent infection or reduce viral replication.

The 2009 H1N1 strain combined genetic elements from human, swine, and avian influenza viruses, creating unique antigenic properties that limited human immunity against the new strain.
