Target Information
The LEF1 gene encodes a transcription factor belonging to the high mobility group (HMG) protein family.
This protein binds to a functional site in the T-cell receptor-alpha enhancer, conferring maximal enhancer activity.
It participates in the Wnt signaling pathway and may play roles in hair cell differentiation and follicle morphogenesis.
Mutations in this gene have been identified in sebaceous tumors and are associated with various cancers, including androgen-independent prostate cancer.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
