Target Information
TSSC3 (Tumor-suppressing STF cDNA 3 protein), also known as PHLDA2, BWR1C, HLDA2, or IPL, is a cytoplasmic protein involved in fetal and placental growth. It is highly expressed in the placenta and adult prostate, and at low levels in liver, lung, and brain. TSSC3 functions as an apoptosis-related protein and negative growth regulator, expressed during normal human development. It is maternally imprinted and expressed in placenta, liver, and fetal tissues during embryogenesis, but silenced after development. Alterations in the TSSC3 gene are associated with lung, ovarian, and breast cancers, rhabdomyosarcoma, Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, Wilms tumor, low birth weight, and adrenocortical carcinoma.
