Antibody detects endogenous levels of total DNA Ligase IV.
Target Information
DNA Ligase IV is an ATP-dependent DNA ligase that joins single-strand breaks in double-stranded DNA. It plays a crucial role in V(D)J recombination and DNA double-strand break repair via nonhomologous end joining (NHEJ). The protein forms a complex with XRCC4 and interacts with DNA-dependent protein kinase (DNA-PK), both required for NHEJ. The XRCC4–DNA Ligase IV complex structure has been resolved. Mutations in LIG4 cause LIG4 syndrome. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been observed.
