Target Information
LZTR2 (Leucine Zipper Like Transcription Regulator 2), also known as RGPR-p117, is a member of the BTB-kelch superfamily. It was initially identified as a nuclear factor I (NFI) binding protein and a transcriptional regulator of the regucalcin gene. LZTR2 is mainly localized in the cytoplasm but can translocate to the nucleus through protein kinase C signaling following hormonal stimulation.
Recent studies have shown that single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in LZTR2 are associated with obesity in the Japanese population, similar to associations observed with TMEM18, GNPDA2, BDNF, FAIM2, and MC4R genes in Caucasian populations, suggesting a potential role of LZTR2 in metabolism and obesity risk.
