This antibody detects endogenous levels of LGR5 only when phosphorylated at Thr842.
Target Information
G protein-coupled receptor GPR49 (LGR5) is expressed in brain, skeletal muscle, placenta, and spinal cord. ESTs have been isolated from normal human brain (amygdala), embryo, and placenta libraries, as well as from germ cell, uterus, and brain libraries.
GPCRs represent one of the largest families of signaling molecules, sharing a structural motif of seven transmembrane helices and existing in active/inactive forms. Activation leads to G-protein signaling and downstream effects, while negative regulation mechanisms modulate cellular responses.
GPCR-targeted drugs such as Zyprexa (Eli Lilly) and Claritin (Schering-Plough) exemplify the pharmacological significance of this receptor family.
