Target Information

Eukaryotic histones are basic, water-soluble nuclear proteins forming hetero-octameric nucleosome particles that wrap 146 base pairs of DNA to create chromosomal fibers. The core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, H4) form an octamer composed of two H2A–H2B dimers and two H3–H4 dimers. Over 80% of nucleosomes contain the linker histone H1, which interacts with linker DNA and mediates chromatin compaction.
H1FOO (H1 histone family, member O, oocyte-specific), also known as OSH1, is a 346 amino acid oocyte-specific histone localized in both nucleus and cytoplasm. It is expressed as multiple alternatively spliced isoforms and plays a crucial role in gene regulation during oogenesis and early embryogenesis, as well as meiotic maturation of germinal vesicle-stage oocytes.
