Product Specific Information
- For Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Cellular uptake of iron occurs via receptor-mediated endocytosis of ligand-occupied transferrin receptor into specialized endosomes. Endosomal acidification leads to iron release. The apotransferrin-receptor complex is then recycled to the cell surface, where neutral pH causes loss of affinity between apotransferrin and its receptor.
Transferrin receptor is essential for erythrocyte and nervous system development. Serum transferrin receptor (sTfR) serves as a biomarker for detecting erythropoietin (EPO) misuse and diagnosing various anemias associated with rheumatoid arthritis, pregnancy, irritable bowel syndrome, and HIV.
