Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Cellular uptake of iron occurs via receptor-mediated endocytosis of ligand-occupied transferrin receptor into specialized endosomes. Endosomal acidification leads to iron release, and the apotransferrin-receptor complex is recycled to the cell surface. Transferrin receptor is essential for erythrocyte and nervous system development. Serum transferrin receptor (sTfR) serves as a marker for detecting erythropoietin (EPO) misuse and diagnosing various anemias associated with conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, pregnancy, irritable bowel syndrome, and HIV infection.
