PSG7는 pregnancy-specific glycoprotein (PSG) 유전자 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) 계열의 immunoglobulin-like 유전자의 하위 그룹입니다. 이 유전자들은 19q13.1–q13.2 영역의 CEA 관련 유전자 클러스터 말단에 위치하며, 태반의 trophoblast 세포에서 발현되어 임신 중 모체 혈액으로 분비됩니다. PSG 단백질은 정상적인 임신 유지에 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 또한, 기준 게놈에는 코딩 서열을 방해하는 nonsense mutation이 존재하여, 이 유전자가 pseudogene으로 진화 중일 가능성이 제시되고 있습니다.
