Target Information
TMC7 (Transmembrane channel-like protein 7)은 723개의 아미노산으로 구성된 단백질로, TMC 단백질 패밀리에 속합니다. 모든 TMC 유전자는 세포 내 N-말단과 C-말단을 가지며 최소 8개의 막관통 영역을 가진 막단백질을 암호화합니다. TMC7은 다중막 통과 단백질로서 이온 채널 또는 수송체로 기능할 가능성이 있습니다.
이 유전자는 인간 염색체 16에 위치하며, 염색체 16은 약 900개 이상의 유전자를 포함하고 인간 유전체의 약 3%를 차지합니다. 또한 GAN 유전자는 염색체 16에 위치하며 돌연변이 시 거대 축삭 신경병증(giant axonal neuropathy)을 유발할 수 있습니다. 루빈스타인-테이비 증후군(Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome)과 크론병(Crohn’s disease)도 염색체 16과 연관된 희귀 질환입니다.
