This antibody detects endogenous levels of total CAPN7 protein.
Target Information
Calpain proteinases are papain-like neutral proteases activated by calcium. Calpains 1 and 2 consist of a large proteolytically active subunit and a small non-active enhancer subunit (calpain-4). Other calpains (5–15) generally do not require a small subunit.
Calpain-7 contains a domain-N instead of the typical EF-hand calcium-binding domain, suggesting it may not be calcium-regulated. Instead, it has a sequence similar to domain-III with unknown function. Calpain-7 is widely distributed across most tissues.
