Target Information

Tubulin family members are globular proteins important in the assembly of microtubules. Microtubules are structural components that play crucial roles in mitosis, cytokinesis, and vesicle transport.
TPPP (Tubulin polymerization-promoting protein), also known as p24 or p25, is a 219 amino acid protein localized in the perinuclear region of the cytoplasm. TPPP may form dimers and promote tubulin polymerization into double-walled tubules or stabilized aggregates.
Overexpression of TPPP can prevent mitotic spindle formation and nuclear envelope breakdown. It is phosphorylated by TPK II and encoded by a gene on human chromosome 5.
TPPP may contribute to microtubule polymerization, bundling, and stabilization, maintaining the integrity of the microtubule network and playing roles in mitotic spindle assembly and nuclear envelope breakdown.
