Target Information
Arginyl-tRNA-protein transferase (ATE1), also known as arginyltransferase 1, is a member of the R-transferase family. It facilitates posttranslational conjugation of arginine to N-terminal aspartate-, glutamate-, and possibly cysteine-containing substrates, which is crucial for protein degradation via the ubiquitin pathway.
ATE1 is a 518-amino-acid monomeric protein localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus. Alternative splicing produces two isoforms.
