The Porcine IL-1 beta Simplex ProcartaPlex Kit measures IL-1 beta protein and is designed to be combinable with other Simplex kits, allowing the creation of custom multiplex panels utilizing Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation. When combining multiple Simplex kits (i.e., not using a pre-configured Multiplex Panel), only one buffer kit (sold separately) is needed per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on the sandwich ELISA principle, using two highly specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of one protein to quantitate multiple targets simultaneously with a Luminex instrument. These assays require as little as 25 μL of plasma or serum, or 50 μL of cell culture supernatant, and deliver results within four hours.

Technology Overview

Luminex beads in the ProcartaPlex assay are internally dyed with precise proportions of red and infrared fluorophores to create spectrally unique signatures, identified by Luminex detection systems (e.g., Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX).
Each bead is conjugated with antibodies specific for a single target protein. Bound proteins are detected using biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE).

Unlike traditional ELISA, ProcartaPlex assays use beads with capture antibodies free-floating in solution, enhancing multiplexing efficiency. The Luminex instrument uses dual lasers—one to identify bead type and another to quantify RPE fluorescence proportional to protein concentration.

ProcartaPlex multiplex panels are offered across six species: human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, and canine.
