Product Specific Information

The monoclonal antibody HHF35 recognizes muscle actin, specifically the alpha and gamma forms found in skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle. It does not react with the beta form. The 42 kDa protein is a key component of the cytoskeletal structural network.

HHF35 has been shown to recognize actin from smooth muscle cells of the heart, bladder, uterus, gastrointestinal tract, and diaphragm. It stains tumors of muscle origin such as leiomyomas, leiomyosarcomas, and rhabdomyosarcomas.

Species Reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat, Bovine, Canine, and Non-human primate.

Applications Reported:

• Immunohistochemical staining of frozen tissue sections
• Immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections
• Immunocytochemistry

Applications Tested:
Tested by immunocytochemistry; can be used at ≤30 µg/mL. Recommended to titrate for optimal performance.

Target Information

Actin proteins are highly conserved and play essential roles in cell motility, structure, and integrity. Alpha actins are major components of the contractile apparatus, while beta and gamma actins regulate cell motility.
This actin is an alpha actin found in skeletal muscle. Mutations in the corresponding gene are associated with nemaline myopathy type 3, congenital myopathy with excess thin myofilaments, congenital myopathy with cores, and congenital myopathy with fiber-type disproportion, all of which lead to muscle fiber defects.
