Target Information
Aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases are enzymes that charge tRNAs with their cognate amino acids.
FARS2 is a mitochondrial phenylalanine-tRNA synthetase (PheRS) consisting of a single polypeptide chain, unlike the (alpha-beta)₂ structure found in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cytoplasmic forms.
Structural and catalytic analyses suggest mitochondrial PheRSs may represent a distinct class of PheRS compared to those in prokaryotes and eukaryotic cytoplasm.
