Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of total HRG protein.
Target Information
HRG contains two cystatin-like domains and is found in plasma and platelets. Although its physiological function is not fully determined, HRG is known to bind heme, dyes, and divalent metal ions. It inhibits rosette formation and interacts with heparin, thrombospondin, and plasminogen. The inhibition of fibrinolysis and reduction of inhibition of coagulation suggest a potential prothrombotic role. Mutations in the HRG gene can lead to thrombophilia due to abnormal histidine-rich glycoprotein levels.
