Target Information
NCSTN (Nicastrin)은 type I transmembrane glycoprotein을 암호화하는 유전자로, γ-secretase complex의 필수 구성 요소입니다. 이 단백질은 Notch receptor와 β-amyloid precursor protein을 절단하며, γ-secretase complex의 안정화에 기여합니다. β-amyloid precursor protein의 절단으로 생성되는 amyloid β peptide는 알츠하이머병의 주요 병리학적 특징인 신경반(Neuritic plaque)의 주성분입니다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 가족성 여드름 인버사(familial acne inversa)와 관련이 있습니다. 또한, 염색체 21에 pseudogene이 존재합니다.
