Target Information
The ABCE1 protein belongs to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily, which transports various molecules across cellular membranes. ABC genes are categorized into seven subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White).
ABCE1, also known as RNase L inhibitor, blocks ribonuclease L activity. Activation of RNase L inhibits protein synthesis in the 2-5A/RNase L system, a key antiviral interferon pathway. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
