TCEB1, also known as protein elongin C, is a subunit of the transcription factor B (SIII) complex composed of elongins A/A2, B, and C.
This complex activates RNA polymerase II elongation by suppressing transient pausing within transcription units.
Elongin A functions as the transcriptionally active component, while elongins B and C act as regulatory subunits.
Elongin A2 is specifically expressed in the testis and forms a stable complex with elongins B and C.
The von Hippel-Lindau tumor suppressor protein binds to elongins B and C, inhibiting transcription elongation.
Western blot analyses using different antibodies against distinct regions confirm consistent molecular weight detection.
