SLC1A5 (Solute carrier family 1 (neutral amino acid transporter), member 5)는 Na(+)-의존성 아미노산 수송체 초가족에 속하며, 광범위한 기질 특이성을 가지고 있습니다. 중성 아미노산(글루타민, 아스파라긴, 가지사슬 및 방향족 아미노산 등)을 기질로 받아들이며, 메틸화된, 음이온성 및 양이온성 아미노산은 제외합니다. 또한 세포 표면 수용체로 작용하여 고양이 내인성 바이러스 RD114, 바분 M7 내인성 바이러스 및 D형 유인원 레트로바이러스와 결합할 수 있습니다.
