Target Information
Integrins are essential extracellular matrix (ECM) receptor proteins located on cell surfaces. They are heterodimers composed of alpha and beta transmembrane glycoprotein subunits. About 22 different integrins (alpha/beta combinations) exist in nature.
Integrins are abundant at the cell surface and bind ligands with low affinity, requiring clustering for effective ECM binding. They interact with various ligands including laminin. Each integrin features a large N-terminal extracellular domain for ECM ligand binding and a small C-terminal cytoplasmic domain that mediates actin cytoskeleton interaction and signaling.
