CCL5 (RANTES)는 염색체 17q에 위치한 케모카인 유전자로, 면역 조절 및 염증 반응에 관여하는 분비 단백질 슈퍼패밀리의 일원입니다. CC 아형에 속하며, 혈액 단핵구, 메모리 T helper 세포, 호산구의 화학유인 인자로 작용합니다.
또한 기저세포에서 히스타민 분비를 유도하고, 호산구를 활성화합니다. 이 사이토카인은 CD8+ 세포에서 생성되는 주요 HIV 억제 인자 중 하나로, CCR5 수용체의 자연 리간드로 작용하며 R5형 HIV-1 복제를 억제합니다.
