ADAM12은 ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease-like domain) 패밀리에 속하는 단백질입니다. ADAM12S(Short form)와 ADAM12L(Long form)의 두 가지 형태가 알려져 있으며, Short form은 막관통 및 세포질 도메인이 결여된 가용성 형태입니다. ADAM12의 Short form은 근형성(myogenesis)을 유도하는 것으로 보고되었으며, 세포질 도메인의 부재는 서로 다른 조절 경로를 시사합니다. 두 형태 모두 동일 조직 내에서 발현될 수 있습니다.
