Target Information
Neuropilin 1 (NRP1) is a 923-amino-acid membrane-bound coreceptor belonging to the neuropilin family. It contains two CUB domains, two F5/8 type C domains, and a MAM domain. NRP1 forms heterodimers with NRP2 and interacts with plexin (PLXNB1) to form semaphorin receptors. Predominantly expressed in the nervous system, NRP1 plays roles in cardiovascular development, angiogenesis, axon guidance, neuronal circuit formation, cell survival, and organogenesis. It functions as a receptor for semaphorins and VEGF, regulating VEGF-induced angiogenesis. NRP1 may also be involved in advanced prostate carcinoma and breast cancer progression.
