Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed):
    Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
    Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Calnexin (also known as IP90, p88, p90) is an approximately 90 kDa integral membrane protein of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER).
It functions as a molecular chaperone, assisting in proper folding and assembly of polypeptides into multisubunit proteins.
Calnexin associates with MHC class I heavy chains, partial complexes of T cell receptor and B cell membrane immunoglobulin, but not with completed receptor complexes.
It retains incompletely folded proteins within the ER.
Unlike soluble ER proteins that contain the KDEL retention signal, calnexin lacks this motif but possesses positively charged cytosolic residues ensuring ER retention.
Calnexin structure includes a large ER luminal domain (461 amino acids), a transmembrane segment (22 amino acids), and a cytoplasmic tail (89 amino acids).
