Target Information

SCCPDH (Probable saccharopine dehydrogenase) is a 429 amino acid protein belonging to the saccharopine dehydrogenase family. The SCCPDH gene is conserved across multiple species including chimpanzee, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, fruit fly, mosquito, and C. elegans, and is located on human chromosome 1q44.
Chromosome 1 is the largest human chromosome, spanning about 260 million base pairs and comprising approximately 8% of the human genome. It contains around 3,000 genes, many of which are associated with diseases such as Stickler syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, Gaucher disease, and Usher syndrome.
A breakpoint identified in 1q disrupts the DISC1 gene and is linked to schizophrenia. Chromosome 1 aberrations are also found in various cancers, including head and neck cancer, malignant melanoma, and multiple myeloma.
