Target Information

HCN1 (Hyperpolarization-activated cation channel 1) is part of the HCN gene family contributing to spontaneous rhythmic activity in heart and brain.
HCN1 channels are activated by hyperpolarization and regulated by cyclic nucleotides. They play key roles in motor learning and neuronal integration, particularly in cerebellar Purkinje cells.
Expression is enriched in cerebral cortex, hippocampus, cerebellum, and facial motor nucleus.
Regional specificity among HCN channels contributes to differences in neuronal pacemaker activity across brain systems.
