Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family, characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid F-box motif. The F-box proteins are part of the ubiquitin protein ligase complex SCFs (SKP1-cullin-F-box), which function in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
F-box proteins are divided into three classes:
- Fbws: containing WD-40 domains
- Fbls: containing leucine-rich repeats
- Fbxs: containing other protein-protein interaction modules or no recognizable motifs
The protein encoded by this gene contains WD-40 domains and an F-box motif, classifying it as a member of the Fbw class. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified, but they are considered nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) candidates and not represented.
