Target Information
The superfamily of high molecular weight serine proteinase inhibitors includes SERPINB8 (Protease inhibitor-8, PI8), a member of the ov-serpin subfamily. This group is characterized by high homology to chicken ovalbumin, lack of N- and C-terminal extensions, absence of a signal peptide, and the presence of a serine residue at the penultimate position instead of asparagine. The reactive center loop connects beta sheets A and C, forming a critical portion of the molecule.
