Target Information

Fibronectin is a disulfide-bonded dimer with a molecular weight range of 230–250 kDa. In the extracellular matrix of connective tissues and vessels, fibronectin exists as an insoluble, cross-linked protein forming high molecular mass polymers. It is abundant during embryonic development and tissue remodeling and also found as a soluble plasma protein.

Fibronectin consists of repeating modules forming domains that interact with fibronectin itself, other matrix components such as collagen and heparin, and cell surface receptors like integrins. It plays key roles in cell adhesion, migration, embryogenesis, wound healing, blood coagulation, host defense, and metastasis.

Fibronectin expression is elevated in non-small cell lung carcinoma, promoting tumorigenicity and resistance to apoptosis. The fibronectin gene undergoes alternative splicing, potentially producing up to 20 transcript variants, though not all full-length variants have been characterized.
