Target Information
Mucins are high molecular weight glycoproteins composed of approximately 80% carbohydrate and 20% protein core. Gastric mucin (MUC6) is normally found in the human gastrointestinal tract. The resurgence of gastric mucin reactivity during colonic carcinogenesis is attributed to re-expression of the peptide core of gastric (or fetal colonic) mucins.
