Product Specific Information

The 2D1 monoclonal antibody reacts with all isoforms of human CD45, also known as Leukocyte Common Antigen (LCA). CD45 is expressed by all hematopoietic cells except circulating erythrocytes and platelets. The cytoplasmic portion of CD45 has tyrosine phosphatase enzymatic activity and plays an important role in lymphocyte activation.

Target Information

CD45 (LCA, leukocyte common antigen) is a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase expressed in all nucleated hematopoietic cells, comprising about 10% of all surface proteins in lymphocytes. It is absent on non-hematopoietic cells and tissues. CD45 is critical for lymphocyte development and antigen signaling, regulating Src-family kinases and JAK kinases. Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing, differing in extracellular domains but sharing transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains. CD45 also modulates integrin-mediated signaling, apoptosis, and various immunological functions.
