Target Information

This gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). These RNA-binding proteins associate with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) and influence pre-mRNA processing, metabolism, and transport.
Some hnRNPs shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm, exhibiting distinct nucleic acid binding properties.
The encoded protein contains three quasi-RRM domains that bind RNAs and is similar to HNRPH1.
It is implicated in Fabray disease and X-linked agammaglobulinemia phenotype.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein.
