Target Information
MAP2K4 (MEK4) is a serine/threonine kinase of the STE7 family that phosphorylates and activates JNK1, JNK2, and p38. It preferentially phosphorylates the tyrosine residue of JNKs and mediates cellular responses to stress and inflammatory cytokines. MAP2K4 plays roles in carcinogenesis, with loss-of-function mutations found in lung and pancreatic tumors, while also exhibiting pro-oncogenic activity in some contexts.
