Target Information

Cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases (PDEs) catalyze hydrolysis of the 5′,3′-cyclic nucleotides cAMP and cGMP to the corresponding nucleoside 5′-monophosphates. Mammalian PDEs are classified into families based on substrate affinities, inhibitor sensitivities, regulatory modes, and amino acid sequence homologies.
The PDE8 family includes high-affinity cAMP-specific, IBMX-insensitive PDEs such as PDE8B. All PDEs share a conserved C-terminal catalytic region and a variable N-terminal domain, which confers unique regulatory properties.
