Target Information

Cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases (PDEs) catalyze the hydrolysis of the 5′,3′-cyclic nucleotides cAMP and cGMP to the corresponding nucleoside 5′-monophosphates. Mammalian PDEs are grouped into several families based on substrate affinities, inhibitor sensitivities, regulatory mechanisms, and sequence homologies.
The PDE8 family includes high-affinity, cAMP-specific, IBMX-insensitive enzymes such as PDE8B. All PDEs share a conserved C-terminal catalytic region and a variable N-terminal domain that contributes to their distinct regulatory properties.
