Target Information
Cell-mediated immune responses are initiated by T lymphocytes that are stimulated by peptides bound to MHC molecules on antigen-presenting cells (APC). Activated T cells express inhibitory receptors such as PD-1 (PDCD-1), which mediate suppression of immune activation through interaction with ligands PDL-1 and PDL-2. PD-1 signaling inhibits immune responses in the absence of danger signals. PD-1 knockout mice exhibit hyperactivated immune systems and autoimmune phenotypes. Despite its predicted molecular weight, PD-1 often migrates at a higher molecular weight in SDS-PAGE.
