PADI4는 단백질의 arginine 잔기를 citrullination/deimination하는 효소입니다.
Histone H3의 Arg-8 및 Arg-17, Histone H4의 Arg-3을 citrullinate하여 CARM1 및 HRMT1L2/PRMT1에 의한 methylation을 억제하고 전사를 억제합니다.
또한 EP300/P300의 Arg-2142를 citrullinate하여 NCOA2/GRIP1과의 상호작용을 촉진합니다.
