Target Information
DUX4 (Double homeobox 4)는 안면견갑상완 근이영양증(FSHD)의 주요 원인 유전자로 알려져 있습니다. FSHD는 염색체 4의 D4Z4 매크로위성 반복 서열 일부가 결실되어 발생하며, 각 반복 서열은 DUX4 단백질을 암호화하는 레트로유전자를 포함합니다. 정상 조직에서는 DUX4 발현이 후성유전적으로 억제되지만, FSHD 환자에서는 완전히 억제되지 않아 일부 세포에서 DUX4 단백질이 과발현됩니다. 이 단백질의 발현은 근육세포 독성과 관련이 있습니다.
