Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This antibody is directed against catenin beta-1 protein.
BLAST analysis indicates 100% cross-reactivity with catenin beta-1 from human, mouse, rat, bovine, Xenopus laevis, and Danio rerio.
Reactivity with other homologues is not known.
Target Information
Beta-catenin is an adherens junction (AJ) protein involved in cell-cell adhesion and signal transduction. It interacts with E-cadherin and alpha-catenin to anchor the E-cadherin complex to the actin cytoskeleton.
Beta-catenin also associates with the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) protein and participates in Wnt/Wingless signaling pathways, influencing cell proliferation and morphogenesis.
It is expressed in hair follicle cells and epithelial tissues, and is implicated in various cancers including colorectal, ovarian, breast, and liver cancers.
In the nucleus, beta-catenin acts as a co-activator of Lef/Tcf transcription factors, promoting expression of genes such as cyclin D and c-myc that drive cell proliferation and tumorigenesis.
