Target Information

EFHD1 (also known as Swiprosin-2 or SWS2) is an EF-hand and coiled-coil-containing adaptor protein originally identified in a neuronal cell line derived from the cerebellum of an adult p53⁻ mouse. Subsequent studies found no difference in normal mice. EFHD1 mRNA is widely expressed, with low levels during embryonic brain development and increasing expression postnatally into adulthood. In situ hybridization shows expression in neurons but not in white matter of the cerebellum and cerebrum. EFHD1 is also highly expressed in testes, ovary, and kidney collecting ducts, suggesting roles in gametogenesis and water reabsorption.
