Target Information
This gene belongs to the GRB2-associated binding protein (GAB) family. These proteins contain a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain and bind SHP2 tyrosine phosphatase and GRB2 adapter protein. They act as adapters to transmit signals in response to cytokine and growth factor receptor stimulation, as well as T- and B-cell antigen receptor activation. The encoded protein is a key activator of phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase following high-affinity IgE receptor activation. Two alternatively spliced transcripts encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
