STT3B는 올리고사카라이드 트랜스퍼라제(OST) 복합체의 촉매 소단위로, 단백질 N-글리코실화의 초기 단계를 담당합니다. 이 효소는 돌리콜-피로인산에서 글리칸(Glc(3)Man(9)GlcNAc(2))을 nascent polypeptide chain의 Asn-X-Ser/Thr 서열로 전달합니다.
STT3B를 포함한 복합체는 co-translational 및 post-translational N-글리코실화를 모두 매개하며, 특히 미접근 부위의 post-translational glycosylation에 필수적입니다. 또한, ER-associated degradation (ERAD) 경로에서 변형 단백질의 N-글리코실화를 매개하여 분해를 유도합니다.
