Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA (v-rel avian reticuloendotheliosis viral oncogene homolog A), it belongs to the Rel protein family.
NF-kB p65 forms heterodimers with subunits such as p50 or p52. Upon TNF-α binding to its receptor, IKK phosphorylates IκB, leading to its proteasomal degradation. NF-kB p65 plays a critical role in transcriptional activation of the immunoglobulin κ (kappa) gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
