Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD31 (PECAM-1), a 130–140 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on monocytes, platelets, granulocytes, endothelial cells, and stem cells of the myeloid lineage.
Target Information
CD31 (platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1, PECAM-1) is an inhibitory coreceptor regulating T and B cell signaling through ITIM motifs that provide docking sites for protein-tyrosine phosphatases upon phosphorylation.
It is expressed ubiquitously within the vascular compartment, mainly at junctions between adjacent cells.
The N-terminal Ig-like domain mediates homophilic binding, essential for cell-cell interactions.
CD31 plays multiple roles in:
- Integrin-mediated cell adhesion
- Transendothelial migration
- Angiogenesis and apoptosis
- Negative regulation of immunoreceptor signaling
- Autoimmunity and macrophage phagocytosis
- IgE-mediated anaphylaxis and thrombosis
CD31 is a key regulatory molecule in the vascular system.
