Annexin family 단백질은 칼슘 의존적 인지질 결합 단백질로, 세포 내외막 관련 과정(분비, 내포작용 등)에 관여합니다. Annexin 5는 phospholipase A2 및 protein kinase C 억제 단백질이며, 칼슘 채널 활성과 세포 신호전달, 염증, 성장, 분화에 관여할 수 있습니다. 또한 placental anticoagulant protein I, vascular anticoagulant-alpha, endonexin II, lipocortin V, placental protein 4, anchorin CII 등의 명칭으로도 알려져 있습니다. 이 유전자는 약 29 kb의 길이로 13개의 엑손을 포함하며, 약 1.6 kb의 전사체와 약 35 kDa의 단백질을 생성합니다.
