Target Information
The CCR9 gene encodes a protein belonging to the beta chemokine receptor family, predicted to be a seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor. Chemokines and their receptors regulate thymocyte migration and maturation under normal and inflammatory conditions. The specific ligand for CCR9 is CCL25. This gene shows differential expression in T lymphocytes of the small intestine and colon, suggesting a role in thymocyte recruitment and immune specialization across gastrointestinal segments. It is located within the chemokine receptor gene cluster region. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
